เมื่อครบกำหนดคลอดนางเหรา กับนายนันทา ก็ได้ตั้งชื่อลูกว่า “ศรีธนญชัย” ซึ่งเป็นเด็กที่ช่างพูดช่างเจรจา เมื่อศรีธนญชัยโตขึ้นก็เป็นหนุ่มรูปงามได้พบรักกับ “ศรีนวล” โดยที่ฝ่ายพ่อกับแม่ของนางศรีนวลไม่ค่อยชอบศรีธนญชัยสักเท่าไรนัก จึงเรียกค่าสินสอดศรีนวลไว้ซะแสนแพง แต่ด้วยความฉลาดแกมโกงบวกกับการเป็นนักตีความที่ฉลาดหลักแหลม…ศรีธนญชัยจึงได้ศรีนวลมาเป็นภรรยา !!
